Why see a private physiotherapist?

Early treatment can mean a quicker recovery with less time off work and minimum disruption to your daily activities and hobbies. A private physiotherapist will often be able to see you within 24 hours, at a time convenient to you.

The physiotherapist will not only treat the problem, but also, by spending time with you, will often be able to show you how to prevent the problem from occurring again.

A physiotherapist can also give advice on posture and ergonomics for employers and employees at home or work.

What will happen at my first visit?

Your first visit will last between 30-40 minutes. The physiotherapist will assess your condition including your current symptoms and any relevant medical history; this will enable them to establish what may be causing your problem and determine the best course of treatment for you. You may be asked to undress to underwear during your assessment and any subsequent treatment sessions, and are free to bring someone along with you if that would make you feel more comfortable. Please try to wear clothing that can be removed quickly and easily if possible.

What do i do if i have private medical insurance?

Contact your insurance provider prior to making an appointment to establish the terms of your policy and to obtain authorisation if needed.

Visit your GP or consultant if a referral is necessary.

Bring details of your insurance company to your first appointment. We will need:

  • Name of insurer, together with your membership number.
  • Your insurance limit for physiotherapy.
  • Details of any excess on your policy.
  • Authorisation code if needed.

We will then be able to invoice your insurance company directly but you may need to pay any excess owed.

Can I have treatment without a referral?

Yes, just ring or email for an appointment. You may need a referral from your GP or consultant if your insurance company requires one.

How is payment made?

Payment is due after each session unless you have private medical insurance, in which case we will invoice your insurance company direct.
